Harris County High School has a new principal. He’s a Columbus area administrator.
A Columbus area school has a new principal.
Tyler Dunn, an assistant principal at Troup County Comprehensive High School, has been hired as principal of Harris County High School.
Dunn succeeds Todd Stanfill, who retired in September. Donna Patterson, an assistant principal, has been serving as acting principal.
The Harris County Board of Education approved superintendent Roger Couch’s recommendation during Thursday night’s meeting.
“Dunn’s experience to date will help us create a high school that offers students the variety of options they need to find their path whether it is attending a university, technical school, or jumping straight into a position,” Couch said in the school district’s news release.
In addition to being an assistant principal at Troup the past seven years, Dunn also has supervised the school’s Career, Technical and Agricultural Education the past four years.
He previously was an administrator for five years at Manchester High School. He taught science and health/physical education from 2002-07 at Luella Middle School in Locust Grove.
Dunn is a native of Manchester. He earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education/fitness from the University of West Georgia in 2002, a master’s degree in instructional technology from Troy University in 2004 and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Lincoln Memorial University in 2007.
“The Harris County School District has had a long tradition of excellence,” Dunn said in the news release. “The community has supported Harris County High School, and it shows in the success of the students. I’m honored to have the opportunity to be welcomed into this family and to serve this community.”
