What qualities should Columbus State’s new president have? Here’s how to share your opinion
If you have an opinion about what qualities, qualifications or priorities the next president of Columbus State University should have, here’s your chance to share it with the search committee.
The committee will conduct five listening sessions over two days next week. Each session is targeted for a specific group, but all sessions are open for anyone to attend. Here’s the schedule:
Oct. 6
7:30-8:30 a.m., focusing on community members and external stakeholders, Cunningham Conference Center, 3100 Gentian Blvd.
Oct. 7
In the Synovus Center for Commerce and Technology auditorium, 61 Clearview Circle:
- Noon to 1 p.m., focusing on students.
- 1:15-2:15 p.m., focusing on faculty.
- 2:30-3:30 p.m., focusing on staff.
4-5 p.m., focusing on anyone, Riverside Theatre main stage, 6 W. 10th St,
The committee also plans to collect public opinions via an online survey on a dedicated page at CSU’s website. Also on the page, folks will be able to nominate candidates. Details about those opportunities will be announced during the listening sessions, University System of Georgia vice chancellor for external affairs Ashley May told the Ledger-Enquirer.
Chris Markwood retired June 30 after seven years as CSU’s fifth president. The institution was founded in 1958 as Columbus College and gained university status in 1996.
University System of Georgia vice chancellor for organizational effectiveness John Fuchko started working full-time on CSU’s campus June 1 and officially became interim president July 1.
