Who donated — and how much — to Columbus mayor campaigns? Reports reveal answers

The May 19 nonpartisan election to decide who will be the next mayor of Columbus is four months away. Five candidates are campaigning to succeed Mayor Skip Henderson. City law prohibits him from seeking a third four-year term.

If fundraising is a key factor, then former city manager Isaiah Hugley and Columbus Council District 7 representative Joanne Cogle — one of the councilors who voted to fire Hugley last year — are the frontrunners.

As of Jan. 7, Hugley’s campaign has raised $87,187 and has spent $34,997.21, according to its disclosure report. Trip Tomlinson chairs Hugley’s campaign. Fernando Verdree is the campaign’s treasurer.

As of Dec. 30, Cogle’s campaign has raised $66,699.99 and has spent $31,568.49, according to its disclosure report. Cogle chairs her campaign. Stephanie McPherson is the campaign’s treasurer.

As of Jan. 5, Jaketra Bryant’s campaign has raised $4,928.48 and has spent $3,741, according to its disclosure report. Her report does not list a chairperson. Jerrimica Moore is the campaign’s treasure.

On Jan. 2, Steven Kelly’s campaign submitted to the Muscogee elections office an affidavit affirming he doesn’t intend to accept during this election cycle a combined total of contributions exceeding $2,500, so he isn’t required to submit a campaign disclosure report listing donors and their donations. Richardo Green chairs his campaign. Kourtnee Cannon is the treasurer.

As of Jan. 5, Mark LaJoye’s campaign hasn’t raised any money. All his listed contributions are in-kind. His disclosure report does not list a chairperson. He is the treasurer.

Below are all donors who contributed more than $100 to one of these campaigns, according to their disclosure report, as required by state law.

The Ledger-Enquirer is listing the donors by dollar amount.

The L-E’s lists don’t include bank loans. Some donors might be listed more than once if they made multiple donations of different dollar amounts.
