‘Loving’ dog lost his ‘best buddy.’ Now back at shelter, he waits for new home
A “loving” dog lost his “best buddy” — and now, he’s back at an Alabama shelter.
Murray the 2-year-old pup waits for a fresh start after his beloved owner died.
“There was no one that came forward to take me in so I am back at Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama looking for another family to love and for them to love me too,” the animal organization said May 10 in a Facebook post written from Murray’s perspective. “I am sad that I lost my best friend but so glad I had over 2 years with him. He was the best. I loved him dearly.”
Murray first landed at the shelter when he was found living on his own as a puppy. He was 3 months old when he was rescued and adopted in December 2022. Over time, he formed a close relationship with his owner.
“My best friend was a truck driver that wanted a sidekick to go with him in his truck when he was working,” the shelter wrote from Murray’s perspective. “I loved my life and loved to travel with my best friend.”
After Murray lost his owner, he landed back at the shelter on May 5. Since his return, the 95-pound pup has become known as a “gentle giant” who’s “friendly and loving.”
“He is just kind and playful,” Teresa Camp, office administrator for the shelter, told McClatchy News via email. “He plays with our office dog, Chuppie. He is very gentle with her. He is just a great dog.”
As of May 12, Murray was available for adoption in Boaz, a roughly 70-mile drive northeast from Birmingham. Details about the animal organization’s adoption process can be found at secondchanceshelter.biz.
