Four Georgia restaurants are among the ‘most outstanding’ in the world, rankings show
Georgia is home to four of the “most outstanding” places to eat in the world, a new report finds.
Restaurants in Atlanta and along the coast rank among the best dining spots on a list from Forbes Travel Guide.
Here are the restaurants that received recognition:
- Atlas Buckhead in Atlanta
- Bacchanalia in Atlanta
- Colt & Alison on St. Simons Island
- Georgian Room on Sea Island
The Georgia eateries were among 253 restaurants that made the worldwide rankings published Tuesday, April 26. Forbes Travel Guide said it came up with the list after venturing across the globe.
“We verify luxury,” the travel guide said in its report. “Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. ... While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.”
Of the Georgia restaurants that earned recognition, Georgian Room was the only place to receive a “coveted” five-star rating for “virtually flawless service and amazing facilities.” Though the restaurant roughly 85 miles south of Savannah has been closed for renovations, Forbes Travel Guide praised it for offering seasonal ingredients and top-notch customer service.
“The décor is stunningly grand, with bas-relief details, gilded chandeliers and a carved stone fireplace,” the travel guide said. “Tables are set with crisp white linens, hand-painted china and silver flatware.”
Four-star ratings went to Bacchanalia in Atlanta and Colt & Alison, which is located near the coast.
The other Georgia restaurant — Atlas Buckhead — was considered “recommended,” a mark given to “excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.”
It’s not the first time a restaurant in the state has earned a top honor.
In January, seven places in Georgia were named among the nation’s top places to have a meal. Another report found the Peach State was home to some of the most romantic restaurants in the United States, McClatchy News reported.
