This Georgia burger ranks among the ‘most outrageous’ in the US. Here’s why
A massive burger sold from a Georgia gas station ranks among the “most outrageous” beef creations in the nation.
NFA Burger in Dunwoody serves the quad — four patties stacked high. While that’s “already considered a major feat of burger construction,” the restaurant allows for an extra twist: swapping the traditional buns for Belgian waffles, according to the restaurant review website Yelp.
The mashup — called the Y’all Burger — helped the restaurant earn a spot on a recent list of “11 most outrageous burgers on Yelp.”
To create the rankings, the website said it considered U.S. businesses in its burger category. Then, it weighed several factors, “including total volume of reviews and review ratings, as well as select keywords used in reviews to describe outrageous burgers.”
NFA Burger was the only place in Georgia to make the national list. The Atlanta-area restaurant, which earned more than four out of five stars on Yelp, said it offers “classic smashed burgers with house made Sassy seasoning and sauce.”
In online reviews, NFA Burger fans said they couldn’t get enough of the crispy, cheesy patties served from a place with a simple menu. The no-frills attitude appears to extend to the restaurant itself, which some customers describe as being in a gas station and having seats out back.
For the winning burger, Yelp said owner Billy Kramer orders waffles from Belgium. Then, he takes in the smells that he wishes he could turn “into a perfume.”
“Unlike the light, fluffy waffles you might find at a pancake house, the Y’all Burger uses Liège waffles, which contain pearl-sized sugar clumps that caramelize on the grill,” Yelp said in its report. “The waffles add a satisfying crunch to each bite — and a sweet aroma to the burger joint.”
Atlanta-area eateries are no stranger to receiving wide recognition. This year, some topped lists of most romantic and “most outstanding” places to eat, McClatchy News reported.
Also making Yelp’s latest list were out-of-the-box and behemoth burgers from California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
