Tax refunds have been running bigger in recent years, and Georgia tax-filers are part of the up-trend, although where you live in the state can make a big difference in your received return.

According to IRS data analyzed by Upgraded Points, Georgia’s average refund is right in line with national trends, which hover around $3,600 with about 75% receiving refunds.

The average refund for Georgia filers in tax year 2022 was $3,574.

Most households pocket between $2,400 and $3,000 on average, but county-level differences show how local incomes and filing patterns could affect that.
