The holiday break is almost over and the weather is taking a severe turn toward the frigid. So, it’s time to think about what the back-to-school to school conditions will be for the kiddos on Wednesday.

As students in Columbus, Georgia, prepare to return to school on Wednesday, Jan. 8, they can expect much colder temperatures than average. Now is the time to put those new hats, gloves and mittens to good use.

Here’s a breakdown of the weather forecast for January 8, 9 and 10, according to Accuweather:

Wednesday, January 8

Morning conditions

  • Real temperature: 42°F

  • Feels like: 36℉

  • Conditions: Zero chance of precipitation with mild winds at 8 mph

Afternoon conditions

  • Real temperature: 45°F

  • Feels like: 41℉

  • Conditions: No precipitation but heavy wind gusts up to 22 mph

Thursday, January 9

Morning conditions

  • Real temperature: 35°F

  • Feels like: 27℉

  • Conditions: No precipitation but heavy wind gusts up to 23 mph

Afternoon conditions

  • Real temperature: 45°F

  • Feels like: 41℉

  • Conditions: No precipitation but heavy wind gusts up to 21 mph

Friday, January 10

Morning conditions

  • Real temperature: 35°F

  • Feels like: 27℉

  • Conditions: Plenty of sunshine, with no precipitation and heavy wind gusts up to 23 mph

Afternoon conditions

  • Real temperature: 45°F

  • Feels like: 41℉

  • Conditions: No precipitation or cloud cover, and heavy wind gusts up to 21 mph

Although it’s unlikely Columbus area schools will be disrupted by snow next week, experts are predicting subzero temperatures, snow and ice in several other southern states.
