Wedding Rush On
To Avoid Draft
Young men are falling all over themselves these days in a big "rush to get married." It's love, of course, but in a lot of cases they spell it V-I-E-T-N-A-M.
"Many of the young men bluntly admit that they are marrying to avoid the draft," said a clerk in the Allegheny County license bureau in Pittsburgh. "Some say they feel the cause in Viet Nam is not worth fighting for."
Russell Draft
The Russell County Selective Service Office has announced that its September draft call will be more than double the August call.
State Selective Service Director Glenn Curlee said that the Alabama call for September will reach a total of 1,128.
