The Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week poll winner is . . .
Pearson Pettit is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Girls Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
As a senior wide receiver on the Harris County High School flag football team, Pearson caught all nine of her targets for 135 yards, three touchdowns and a two-point conversion in the Tigers’ 36-0 home win Oct. 4 over Bowdon.
Coach Michael Kinsey said in an email to the Ledger-Enquirer that Pearson showed her ability to run after the catch as none of her touchdown receptions occurred in the end zone.
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a female athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s five nominees, Pearson received 71% of the 1,798 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
