Cottonmouths win seventh straight to even record
HUNTSVILLE, Ga. — The Columbus Cottonmouths won their seventh straight game Friday night, 2-0 over the Huntsville Havoc.
Goalie Andrew Loewen won his fourth straight game, stopping all 28 shots he faced.
Patrick McCadden got the Snakes on the board first at the 8:47 mark of the second period. Craig Simchuk and Chris Bailer picked up the assists.
Bryce Williamson scored an empty-netter just 4 seconds before the end of the game for the second goal. Matt Gingera had the assist.
The Snakes, who started the season 0-7, have evened their record at 7-7. They are in fifth place in the SPHL standings, four points behind Louisiana for fourth place.
Columbus hosts Huntsville at the Columbus Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
