Cottonmouths fall in overtime to Mayhem

Alexandre Labonte scored an unassisted goal 2:01 into overtime to give Macon a 3-2 win over Columbus on Tuesday morning.

The Cottonmouths remain winless through six games with an 0-3-3 record. But the Snakes did pick up a point in the overtime loss and tied Lousiana for eighth place in the nine-team SPHL.

Macon is 2-2-2 with six points. The Mayhem is tied for fourth with Knoxville and Penscaola.

Joshua Ranalli gave the Mayhem a 1-0 lead just 6:25 into the game.

Louis Belisle scored both of Columbus' goal. The first one came at 8:54 of the first period. Kyle Brodie and Andy Bathgate had the assists.

Belisle scored again at 14:56 of the first period to give Columbus a 2-1 lead. Bathgate and Kyle Shapiro had the assists.

Mike Montrose scored to tie the game at 2:50 in the second period.

Shannon Szabados started in net for Columbus and stopped 27 of 30 shots. Macon's Garrett Bartus stopped 41 of 43 shots.

The Snakes play Friday at Huntsville and at Macon on Sunday. The next home game for the Snakes will be against Fayetteville on Nov. 20.
