RiverKings shut out Cottonmouths 3-0
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- The Columbus Cottonmouths went 0-for-5 on powerplay opportunities Tuesday and fell to the Mississippi RiverKings 3-0.
The Snakes (5-7-3) had a scoring chance at 15:01 of the first period, but Cody Freeman failed to convert on a penalty shot.
The RiverKings got things going in the second period when Ryan Marcus scored at 13:06 on assists from Dean Willmott and Ian Young.
Mississippi made it 2-0 at 0:37 of the third period on a penalty shot by Linden Bahm.
Michael Beaudry made it 3-0 on an empty net goal at 19:02 of the third period.
Columbus goalie Brandon Jaeger took the loss. He made 30 saves on 32 shots before being pulled late in the game.
Mississippi goalie Peter Di Salvo was perfect with 28 saves on 28 shots.
The Cottonmouths return to action Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. in Huntsville against the Havoc.
