Columbus Cottonmouths fall to Peoria
Peoria scored three straight goals in the second period and beat the Columbus Cottonmouths 4-1 on Friday night.
The game was played before a crowd of 1,824 at the Columbus Civic Center.
Shawn Bates gave Columbus a 1-0 lead just 56 seconds into the second period.
Cody Freeman had the assist.
Brandon Greenside scored an unassisted goal at 3:52 to tie the game.
Donnoe Toomey gave Peoria the lead at 5:19. And Mike Donnellan scored at 11:49 to give the Rivermen a 3-1 lead.
Matt Summers scored at 12:48 of the final period to finish the scoring.
Peoria outshot Columbus 48-28.
Columbus goalie Shannon Szabados stopped 44 of the 48 shots, but she suffered the loss.
Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 27 of the 28 he faced.
The two teams meet again tonight at 7:30 at the Columbus Civic Center.
