Pensacola snaps Columbus' three-game win streak
PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Pensacola scored four goals in less than seven minutes in the third period to stop Columbus 4-2 on Friday night.
The loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Cottonmouths.
Andy Bathgate gave the Cottonmouths a 1-0 lead at 16:14 of the first period. Louis Belisle and Kyle Johnson got the assists.
That was all the scoring until the Ice Flyers' surge midway through the final period.
Adam Pawlick scored unassisted to tie the game at 8:50. At 10:41, he put the Ice Flyers ahead 2-1 with assists from Corey Banfield and Cole Ruwe.
Pawlick got the assist on the next goal, which was scored by Joe Caveney at 14:01.
At 15:26, Cody Dion made it 4-1 with a goal with assists from Michael Juola and Dean Moore.
Shawn Bates scored for the Snakes on a power play at 18:11 for the final goal of the night. Bathgate and Belisle picked up the assists.
Pensacola took a whopping 52 shots at Shannon Szabados, who stopped 48.
Pensacola's John McLean stopped 20 of 22.
The two teams play against at 8:05 p.m. Saturday night.
