Columbus Cottonmouths win fourth straight
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Columbus scored a pair of third-period goals to down Fayetteville 3-1 on Friday night.
It was the fourth straight win for the Cottonmouths, the longest win streak of the season.
Andy Bathgate put the Snakes ahead 1-0 at 12:33 of the first period with assists from Tyler Henry and Rusty Hafner.
Graeme Strukoff tied the game at 11:45 of the second period.
Ben O'Quinn gave Columbus a 2-1 lead just 2:23 into the final period. Henry had the assist.
Kyle Shapiro scored an empty-net goal at 18:44 to close out the scoring.
Columbus (15-20-6) remains in eighth place in the nine-team SPHL with 36 points, two ahead of Macon and one behind Louisiana.
This was Columbus' only game this weekend. The Snakes play only once next weekend as well -- at Louisiana on Feb. 27.
