Gurtler has hat trick in Rivermen’s 6-1 win over Cottonmouths

The Peoria Rivermen got a hat trick from Mike Gurtler and handed the Columbus Cottonmouths a lopsided 6-1 defeat Friday night at the Peoria Civic Center.

Down 6-0, Alex Pompeo scored the Snakes lone goal 6:14 of the third period on assists from Patrick McCadden and Andy Bathgate. Peoria outshot Columbus 46-20.

Brandon Jaeger stopped 40 of 46 shots on goal and took the loss.

Columbus, which missed the SPHL playoffs this year, finished the regular season Saturday night at against Peoria.
