Columbus police have identified a suspect in the shooting at an unlicensed Andrews Road nightclub where rapper Alec Spencer fatally was wounded April 1.
Police have warrants charging 24-year-old Damion Marquez “Dae-Dae” Collier with aggravated assault, being a convicted felon with a firearm and using a gun to commit a crime.
Police said two other men were wounded during the shooting around 4 a.m. at Night Life, 480 Andrews Road. Police Lt. Greg Touchberry said shots first were fired during an argument inside the building, and then more gunfire followed as the combatants moved outside.
Spencer, 24, was pronounced dead at 4:46 a.m., according to Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley.
In an interview with the Ledger-Enquirer, Spencer’s twin brother Eric said Alec Spencer worked security at the nightclub, which police said featured exotic dancers.
Eric Spencer said witnesses told him his brother was standing outside when the shooting started, and was not involved in the altercation.
The two men wounded in the shooting were identified as Daniel Pitts and Darrell Boggans.
Though several witnesses were there, investigators have found few people willing to tell what they saw, police said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Sgt. Anthony Locey at 706-225- 4291 or email him at alocey@columbusga.org.
