Police surrounding home where deadly shooting suspect may be located
Police are surrounding a home in the area of Fifth Avenue and 32nd Street where they believe a suspect in this morning’s shooting may be located, Maj. Gil Slouchick said.
The Hazardous Device Response team and SWAT teams both have members on the scene.
Officers and Muscogee County Sheriff’s deputies are on the scene. Authorities have blocked off Fifth Avenue near 32nd Street.
Slouchick said it is not confirmed if the suspect is in the home.
Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton confirmed a man is dead after a Tuesday morning shooting near 35th Street and Fourth Avenue.
Slouchick said the death was the result of a shooting. A homicide unit has been called to the scene.
No word yet on suspects. The investigation is still in the early stages.
A large crowd gathered at the scene while police worked on the investigation. Multiple squad cars and ambulances were also on the scene.
