Man killed in shooting at Farr Road apartment

A man was killed Monday night in a shooting at Hannah Heights Apartments on Farr Road, said Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley.

Officials said Travis Porter, 35, was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m. Monday. His body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy.

Columbus police were called to Hannah Heights Apartments at 909 Farr Road to investigate the shooting. There is no word on any suspects.

The corner’s office marks Porter’s death as the 29th Columbus homicide of 2017, but police list it as the 23rd.

Porter’s death marks the third killing since Sunday.

James Fuller, 52, was wanted in Texas on methamphetamine charges when he was killed by a Columbus police officer around 4 p.m. Monday. Authorities said Fuller was shot during a scuffle with an officer who was trying to take him into custody at the time.

Takelia Johnson, 19, was killed around 10 p.m. Sunday during a drive-by shooting in the 900 block of Ewart Avenue.
