You said these 3 Columbus spots have the best sweet tea. Now, pick 1
As the amount of votes in the first round proves, Columbus takes its sweet tea very seriously, and so do we.
After a week of sipping, voting and a highly caffeinated first round, three local favorites have emerged as finalists in our Best Sweet Tea contest.
- Country’s Barbecue has been around since 1975 and admits to “doing things the hard way,” meaning food from scratch and not shortcuts. This includes the tea made with cane sugar.
- Minnie’s Uptown Restaurant continues to be a Columbus tradition and has been feeding up since 1991. And what’s a traditonal “meat and three” without a glass of sweet tea?
- McAlister’s Deli’s sweet famous is notorious around town as a major contender. They’ve even dubbed it McAlister’s “famous tea” and offer dedicated tea-lovers with a special pass to quench their cravings.
Now it’s your turn to crown the winner.

You have until Friday, June 13, at noon to visit our finalists, drink some tea, and pick your favorite. The Ledger will visit the winning establishment, have some of the famous sweet tea, and hand out all the bragging rights we can find.
