COLGA just crowned the best sweet tea in town, and it wasn’t even close
After weeks of voting and a whole lot of passionate opinions about sweetness, to lemon or not to lemon and steep strategies, Columbus has spoken.
The best sweet tea in town comes from a local legend, Country’s Barbecue.
In a bracket packed with 16 of Columbus’ heavy hitters, Country’s landed on top, earning the most love from Ledger-Enquirer readers.
Readers have serious opinions about sweet tea
Folks didn’t hold back in their love for their tea. As the votes poured in, debates broke out, and more than a few tea-lovers weighed in.
One tea connoisseur said, of Country’s tea, “It’s also the only option that I would send someone to that was looking for ‘true southern sweet tea’ that I personally didn’t make.”
Although it may be known for its pork platters, daily specials and reliably friendly faces, Country’s now gets to add “Best Sweet Tea in Columbus” to its resume.
Whether you’ve been sipping it since childhood or just discovering it now, go ahead and grab a glass (mason jar optional). And don’t forget your to-go cup.
We should also offer an honorary mention of the runners-up: Minnie’s Uptown Restaurant and McAlister’s Deli, which offer respectable tea choices themselves.
Long live the tea champ. Congrats, Country’s.
