Chattahoochee Valley residents have been speculating about when the new Raising Cane’s location at 5720 Whittlesey Blvd. in the Columbus Park Crossing shopping center will open. The company has now answered.

The Columbus location is scheduled to open Jan. 13, with 160 employees to be hired, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based restaurant chain announced in a news release.

Those jobs will pay $15 per hour with an additional $1 per hour for working past 10 p.m. Employees can earn an extra $2 per hour within the first 12 months of employment and can receive referral bonuses, according to the news release.

“We’re thrilled to be joining the Columbus community as we continue to grow across the great state of Georgia.” Christian Thrash, the regional leader of recruiting for Raising Cane’s, said in news press release. “We’re excited to start hiring our Columbus crew, and we can’t wait to welcome them to the team.”

Raising Cane’s has over 950 locations across the United States, and the Columbus location is one of 12 in Georgia, according to their website, which says, “Our certified ‘Bird Specialists’ hand batter premium chicken that’s marinated for 24 hours, then cooked to order for fingers that are hot and tender down to the last bite.”

Customers can expect an “all-out celebration” on opening day in Columbus, the news release says, including 20 customers receiving a card giving them free Cane’s food for a year.

Raising Cane’s promises to engage with local schools, sports teams and nonprofit organizations through fundraising opportunities and sponsorships.

The Columbus location’s operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to midnight Sundays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
