Dutch Bros planning to open new coffee shop in Columbus

Dutch Bros Coffee plans to open a new location in Columbus.

The company opened its first Columbus-area location in Phenix City in December. They are in the early stages of bringing the coffee shop to Columbus, Dutch Bros spokeswoman Alissan Spiedel told the Ledger-Enquirer.

The website for LDI, a construction plans printing company, shows Dutch Bros accepting bids for new construction at 2515 Whittlesey Blvd. in Columbus. Spiedel, however, would not confirm this address, saying it was too early in the process.

The property at 2515 Whittlesey Blvd. is an empty lot between Firehouse Subs and Express Oil Change.

Dutch Bros was founded by Dane and Travis Boersma in 1992 in Grants Pass, Oregon, according to the company’s website.

It began expanding with its first franchise opening in 2000, the website says, spreading through the Northwest. The company now has over 1,000 locations, according to a report by Yahoo Finance.

Dutch Bros offers a variety of drinks along with coffee, including energy drinks, refreshers, lemonade, shakes and smoothies.
