Murder suspect arrested in Wickham Drive shooting

One of the two murder suspects wanted in the Jan. 24 shooting on Wickham Drive was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in El Paso, Texas, authorities said.

Dewayne Marquis Jones, 36, was arrested without incident. Officials are still searching for 35-year-old Carl James McClendon, who they consider armed and dangerous.

Officials said anyone who comes in contact with McClendon should use extreme caution.

Columbus police were called to Wickham Drive around 10:52 p.m. Jan. 24 to investigate a shooting that left three injured. All of the victims were rushed to Midtown Medical Center, where 24-year-old Lashay Ford was pronounced dead at 11:31 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene described three male suspects riding in a gray or silver car. No other suspects have been named in the shooting.
