Second arrest made in 2021 Columbus murder at Wilson Apartments

The second of two suspects in the murder of Marcel Samedi, 21, has been arrested.

Corey Troupe, 24, was arrested in South Carolina, the Columbus Police Department announced Wednesday. His Recorder’s Court hearing is pending his arrival in Columbus.

The Ledger-Enquirer has asked for further details about the arrest and will update this story when they are received.

On June 5, Columbus police officers were dispatched to Wilson Apartments, 3400 Eighth Ave., in reference to a shooting. Officers found Samedi dead, but no evidence or witness at the scene identified the victim, so his body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab as a “John Doe.”

It took about a week before authorities identified the Rock Hill, South Carolina, man.

On Jan. 4, probable cause was established and murder warrants were obtained for Troupe and Elysia Cooley.

Cooley turned herself in to CPD the next day. Cooley was 16 at the time of the shooting, but she is 17 now, an adult under Georgia law.
