Clemson's Dabo Swinney had an animated reaction to Justyn Ross’ signing

To say Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was excited when Central wide receiver Justyn Ross signed with the Tigers Wednesday would be an understatement.

Swinney was one of several people gathered around a big screen TV at Clemson’s football center when it was Ross’ turn to sign live on ESPN2. As Ross’ started his announcement, a camera was transfixed on Swinney to capture the moment.

“With much consideration and prayer, for the next three or four years I will be playing at Clemson University,” Ross said.

The announcement sent a loud cheer through the group of onlookers and left Swinney fist-pumping and hugging several of the people who were standing alongside him. The audience at Clemson then settled back down as Ross explained why he chose Clemson over Alabama and Auburn, his two other finalists.

“When I was up there, it was just like family,” Ross said. “Even though I’m out of state, they just made me and my family feel like it was home.”

Swinney was all smiles as Ross touched on other factors in his decision, including Swinney himself. Ross lauded his new head coach’s down-to-earth attitude and how involved he is with his players.

Ross was one of the finishing pieces in a strong recruiting class for Clemson. Ross was one of 17 signees in the Tigers’ Class of 2018, which gave Clemson the No. 6 class in the country according to 247Sports.

Judging by the types of plays Ross can make, it’s no wonder why Swinney was so excited.
