Chattahoochee Valley High School Football Rundown: Week 4

Special to the Ledger-Enquirer\Darrell Roaden

After a strong opening few weeks of play, several local football teams fell back to Earth Friday.

The Week 3 games for teams in Georgia provided some challenging non-region games, and in the end several locals were handed hard losses.

As a result, there’s been some significant changes up and down the line:

1. Central Record: 2-0 (0-0) Last Week: W 62-0 vs Fairfield This Week: at Auburn, 8 p.m.

The Red Devils made short work of Fairfield on Friday, dropping 48 points in the first half in the blowout victory. Quarterback Peter Parrish had four total touchdowns, including a 58-yard bomb to wide receiver Justyn Ross. This week, the Red Devils will face their first region game against Auburn, a team which won eight games in 2016.

2. Manchester Record: 3-0 (1-0) Last Week: W 26-20 at Southwest-Macon This Week: Bye Week

3. Northside Record: 2-0 (0-0) Last Week: W 21-14 vs Spencer This Week: vs Jordan (Kinnett Stadium), 7:30 p.m.

The Patriots slugged it out with Spencer and grabbed their second victory thanks in large part to senior Caleb Johnson, who scored two of the team’s three touchdowns. Northside would have been No. 2 this week had it not been for a sloppy second half in which the team made several mistakes that left the door open for the Greenwave. Can Northside keep it rolling against a Jordan team that has shown itself capable of making big plays offensively?

4. Glenwood Record: 2-1 (0-0): Last Week: W 56-0 vs Northside Methodist Academy This Week: at Lee-Scott Academy, 8 p.m.

5. Hardaway Record: 1-2 (0-0) Last Week: L 47-6 at Lee County This Week: Bye Week

6. Columbus Record: 1-1 (0-0) Last Week: L 43-19 vs Upson-Lee This Week: at Callaway, 7:30 p.m.

7. Spencer Record: 1-1 (0-0) Last Week: L 21-14 vs Northside This Week: vs Kendrick (Memorial Stadium), 7:30 p.m.

8. Marion County Record: 2-0 (0-0) Last Week: Bye Week This Week: vs Pacelli, 7:30 p.m.

9. Harris County Record: 1-1 (0-0) Last Week: Bye Week This Week: vs Shaw, 7:30 p.m.

10. Jordan Record: 1-1 (0-0) Last Week: Bye Week This Week: vs Northside (Kinnett Stadium), 7:30 p.m.

11. Brookstone Record: 2-1 (0-0) Last Week: W 34-27 at First Presbyterian This Week: vs Landmark Christian, 7:30 p.m.

12. Chattahoochee County Record: 1-1 (0-0) Last Week: W 12-0 vs Baconton Charter, 7:30 p.m. This Week: at Seminole County, 7:30 p.m.

13. Carver Record: 0-3 (0-0) Last Week: L 37-32 at Douglas County This Week: Bye Week

Carver’s game against Douglas County wasn’t going to be easy, and the Tigers trailed 37-13 heading into the fourth quarter. Give Carver credit for rallying and making it a close game, but before too long, moral victories like that will be meaningless for the team and first-year head coach Calvin Arnold.

14. Calvary Christian Record: 1-2 (1-0) Last Week: L 39-12 at Lee-Scott Academy This Week: vs Covenant Academy, 7:30 p.m.

15. Shaw Record: 1-1 (0-0) Last Week: W 21-12 vs Kendrick This Week: at Harris County, 7:30 p.m.

In a game with more yellow flags than a Sunday at Talladega, the Raiders outlasted an opportunistic Kendrick team. The victory could help first-year head coach Al Pellegrino get his Raiders on the right track, but the team won’t have long to celebrate. The Raiders have a tough task in going to Harris County, which topped Carver and gave Hardaway all it could handle.

16. Russell County Record: 0-2 (0-0) Last Week: L 16-6 vs Valley This Week: vs Dothan, 8 p.m.

17. Kendrick Record: 0-2 (0-0) Last Week: L 21-12 vs Shaw This Week: Spencer (Memorial), 7:30 p.m.

18. Smiths Station Record: 0-2 (0-0) Last Week: L 22-0 at Dothan This Week: at Jefferson Davis, 8 p.m.

19. Pacelli Record: 0-2 (0-0) Last Week: Bye Week This Week: at Marion County, 7:30 p.m.
