Columbus man wanted in two deadly shootings shot on Morris Road
The man wanted in the shooting of the 34-year-old man whose body was found burned in the trunk of a car on July 10 was shot early Monday on Morris Road.
Reginald Jamal Jackson, who is always charged in a deadly July 7 shooting, was one of two men shot around 2 a.m. Monday in the 800 block of Morris Road.
Columbus police were called to the hospital to investigate after the men arrived in a private vehicle about 30 minutes later. Jackson was released from the hospital and booked into the Muscogee County Jail on Saturday.
No further details about Monday’s shooting are available at this time.
Jackson was shot days after authorities sent out a release on August 23 announcing that they had issued two murder warrants for him in the death of Michael Fleming and Brandon Scott, both 34.
Scott was one of two men who were shot around 2 a.m. July 7 at an apartment at 831 Rigdon Road. Both victims were transported to Columbus Midtown Medical Center, where Scott was pronounced dead at 2:52 a.m.
The other victim was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital for further treatment. His current condition has yet to be released.
Around 5:37 a.m. July 10, Fleming was found dead in the trunk of a burned 2006 Pontiac G6 at the intersection of Harbison Drive and Head Street. His body was charred beyond recognition with no facial features and no fingers, but officials identified him with DNA matched to his parents, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said.
Officials determined that he was shot twice in the 2600 block of Cusseta Road before being burned in the trunk of the stolen car.
Alexander Jackson, 56, was charged Aug. 3 with tampering with evidence after authorities accused him of getting rid of the blood and other evidence left at the shooting scene.
Darious Jamal Robinson, 18, Marquis Lamar Johnson, 20, and Fredret Shamar Culliver, 17, were charged with hijacking the Pontiac from a woman July 9 at the Big Cat Fuels at 2936 North Lumpkin Road.
The three men allegedly robbed two gas stations later that night.
