Columbus may be Georgia’s second-largest city, but it ranked it 209 out of 426 places to live across the state. Niche’s 2026 Best Places to Live is an annual ranking that evaluates communities across the country on several factors.

Released March 23, 2026, Niche ranks places across multiple scopes, from small local-area matchups to massive statewide lists, so a spot can claim No. 1 regionally while landing much lower statewide.

Columbus’ full rankings

Columbus earns a B overall, signalling solid but not standout livability. Middling crime rates and school scores hold it back from a top-half position.
