At Home superstore knocks hole in Peachtree Mall for front doors
It’s the most visible progress yet that home furnishings and decor retailer At Home is moving closer to opening its doors at Peachtree Mall in Columbus.
As of Wednesday, construction crews had knocked a hole front and center at the 3131 Manchester Expressway mall and erected a house-like entrance that is the prototypical design for the At Home superstores.
Garden Ridge, Texas-based At Home is locating in the former Parisian department store space at the mall, with plans to inhabit the entire 87,446 square feet of space. City building permits show nearly $2 million being spent thus far on construction to prepare the store for customers.
Peachtree Mall general manager Onassis Burress says At Home is expected to open in early March, which would be just as the spring season is kicking off in earnest. It will become the fourth anchor for the mall, the others being Dillard’s, JCPenney and Macy’s.
At Home touts its “everyday low pricing” selection of more than 50,000 items in its superstores, with furniture and accessories for each room of a house, as well as storage, organization, patio and garden goods. “Any Style, Any Budget, Any Reason to Redecorate” is one of the slogans it used.
