List of Columbus-area schools that have canceled class amid coronavirus concerns

Public and private schools around Columbus are closing due to concerns surrounding the ongoing new coronavirus pandemic.

Here’s a list of all the Chattahoochee Valley schools that are closing because of COVID-19:

Muscogee County

  • All Muscogee County School District classes and activities are suspended beginning Monday through at least April 6.
  • Calvary Christian: home-based learning beginning Monday through, at least, April 3.
  • Wynnbrook Christian School: closed until April 6.
  • St. Luke School: online learning starting Monday until March 27. Spring break is the following week.
  • Brookstone: distance (online) learning starting Monday until March 27. Spring break is the following week.
  • St. Anne-Pacelli: online learning starting Monday until March 27. Spring break is the following week.

Harris County

Harris County Schools will close beginning Monday through April 5. Unless conditions change, students will return to school April 6. Students will have the option to work on assignments electronically or on paper.

This includes:

  • Mulberry Creek Elementary
  • New Mountain Hill Elementary
  • Park Elementary
  • Pine Ridge Elementary

  • Creekside
  • Harris County Carver Middle
  • Harris County High
  • Performance Learning Center and Educational Opportunity Center

Meriwether County

Meriwether County Schools will close all schools for two weeks, March 16 through March 27, or until further guidance recommends otherwise.

This includes:

  • George E. Washington Elementary
  • Mountain View Elementary
  • Unity Elementary
  • Manchester Middle
  • Manchester High
  • Greenville Middle
  • Greenville High
  • Pre-K program

Marion County

Marion County will close schools next week amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, superintendent Glenn Tidwell told the Ledger-Enquirer Friday morning.

This includes:

  • Marion County Middle/High
  • L.K. Moss Elementary

Troup County

Troup County Schools will close starting Monday through March 27.

This includes:

  • Berta Weathersbee Elementary
  • Callaway Elementary
  • Clearview Elementary
  • Ethel W. Kight Elementary
  • Franklin Forest Elementary
  • Hillcrest Elementary
  • Hogansville Elementary
  • Hollis Hand Elementary
  • Long Cane Elementary
  • Rosemont Elementary
  • West Point Elementary
  • Callaway Middle
  • Gardner Newman Middle
  • Long Cane Middle
  • The Hope Academy
  • Callaway High
  • LaGrange High
  • Troup County High
  • Thinc Academy

Chattahoochee County

Chattahoochee County is closing schools beginning Monday. Teachers will report until Tuesday, with digital learning beginning Wednesday. The district will use bus stops to provide materials to students without internet. The district plans to return to in-person classes April 6, though that is subject to change.

This includes:

  • Chattahoochee County Middle
  • Chattahoochee County High
  • Chattahoochee County Education Center, which includes the daycare, Headstart, preschool and K-5

Phenix City Schools

All Phenix City schools will be closed from March 16 through April 3. There will be no PCS activities during closure dates.

Glenwood School is closed until April 6.

Russell County Schools

All public Alabama schools will be closed for two and a half weeks starting at the end of the school day Wednesday, March 18.

Lee County Schools

All public Alabama schools will be closed for two and a half weeks starting at the end of the school day Wednesday, March 18.
